2010 ahoy, orbis™ wins a POP award !
A big, ginormous HAPPY NEW YEAR to you, if you celebrated it recently. If not, best wishes. I’ll keep this “2009 was an amazing year” thing brief as I’m getting bored of reading so many online roundups. But this is worth saying; something I invented in the back of my garage a few years ago launched globally in early 2009 and as the year came to a close won one of the most prestigious photo-accessory design awards; a Popular Photography and popphoto.com POP Award ! On top of the hundreds of great testimonials we got last year, the orbis™ winning a POP award crowned an amazing 2009. And it gives me a huge anticipation of how magic 2010 will be. So thankyou for the part you played in all this, either by being an orbis™ photographer or perhaps just a reader of the blog.
The orbis™ ring flash also had a great write up on the WIRED blog too. The WIRED review meant a lot … to me , as I’ve been a huge fan of the magazine for a long time. If you’re at all interested in technology and science broadly and share my passion for fantastic photography, it’s one of the best.
David Hobby, AKA Strobist, published a great cross-test of ring flashes where the orbis™ won hands-down in the most important area to a photographer, light quality, which was a great vindication of all the time I spent with my optical design engineers working on producing great shadowless photos from the equipment we all carry around daily. And thousands of orbis™ shooters agree.
Anyway, enough from me for now. Don’t forget to backup all your photos and keyword them. I got caught out this morning and spent half an hour finding some photos that should have been keyworded and searchable in 10 seconds. Lesson learnt. Catch you soon. Busy working on the next product….
