the orbis™… AS SEEN ON TV!
September 29, 2009 by admin
Well, it’s been quite an exciting week. I knew that New Zealand Fashion Week was happening and have to admit I didn’t get too excited even when I heard that global celebrity icon Pamela Anderson was being flown in. But that all changed when I heard that Pamela’s PR people had issued an edict that she was ONLY TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED WITH RING FLASH !!!! Needless to say, a Profoto, Alienbees or any other big ringflash setup just wasn’t going to work in her crowded press conference, so the orbis™ ring flash came to the rescue of the photographers keen to shoot the event.
Here’s a shot from the press conference…

I heard there was a display of falconry at a nearby garden centre last weekend. It’s something that I’ve always had a passing interest in, so I headed on down with my new D90 and an orbis™ in the car. Unfortunately the birds weren’t flying, but after having a nice chat with the chap running the show, I asked if he’d mind if I photographed his bird, a majestic Eurasian Eagle Owl. I was surprised to discover that they don’t mind flash photography, so I grabbed my orbis™ from the car and voilà!
He’ll be appearing on the gallery page shortly, too. To get this, I set my camera… Read more
