fitting kit update

March 24, 2009 by

We are working hard with our manufacturers and designers on the fitting kit. We decided to launch the orbis(tm) as a handheld system first as it was developed mainly to avoid many of the hassles and lengthy setup time of studio ring flash systems. But many photographers are looking forward to being able to fix the orbis(tm) to their camera. We’re intent on getting the fitting system to market as soon as possible but don’t have a release date or price at this stage; it has to fit as many systems as possible and be affordable, so is a surprisingly complex project.
STOP PRESS: A prototype landed at our office this morning.  The prototyping stage in the development cycle is just one step of many, but it is cool to be able to get my hands on it after months of design work.  Now to get to work optimising it….. JM

PHEW! After more airmiles than is safe to ensure my sanity, I’m freshly back from the USA and back in the office with a bump. As you may have seen, we’ve shortlisted some of the eye-catching entries to the orbis(tm) photo competition which are now featured in our gallery.  There are still a few weeks to run in the competition so get your entries into the flickr group ! A couple of weeks ago we heard from Polish photographer Igor Stanislawski, who sent us a link to a video he shot, using the orbis™ ring flash on a fashion workshop… take a look here.  . As promised, our international dealer & distributor page is now live and there’ll be a big announcement on the distribution front coming soon, so stay tuned. And don’t forget about our twitter feed too ! JM
